Sample 2: Learning to Write Numbers
The system used in this booklet is based on writing numbers in groups that share similar shapes. The numbers are divided into three groups. Each group is represented by an image - that is, a picture containing the shape common to numbers of that group. The image also shows the proper direction in which to write the numbers of that group. Finally, the image is accompanied by a magic word that the child is to say while in the process of drawing the basic shape. The image and the magic word provide visual and audio clues to the child, as an aid in remembering the shape and the proper direction for writing the number.
